Rev. Robert C. Preece

Zion's Senior Pastor is the The Rev. Dr. Robert C. Preece.  Born and raised in Austin, he came to Zion in 1990, having served previously for 17 years at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Waterloo, Illinois (metro St. Louis).  A 1973 graduate of Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, he also earned the Doctor of Ministry degree in 1981 at Drew University, Madison, New Jersey.  Pastor and his wife Linda have two grown sons, Justin (married to Cindy) and Matthew, along with one grandson, Owen.  Linda is a development officer for Southern Methodist

University, and contributes her musical talents at Zion as the Director of the Women's Choir.  Pastor Preece has led the congregation in two successful capital campaigns towards the elimination of debt on the 1982 church and office buildings and burning its mortgage in December 2002.  During the past decade, the parish has improved its facilities, reconstructed parking areas, and expanded pastoral services, most recently in 1998 with the establishment of the position of Minister of Outreach, Nurture, and Youth.  As part of Zion's mission ministry, Pastor has led work trips to our sister parish in Guadalajara, journeyed to Nigeria on a teaching/preaching mission (Zion supports a Nigerian Lutheran seminarian), traveled to Cuba to participate in the building of Lutheran churches, and took an initiating role in the formation of the Lutheran Inter-city Network Coalition (LINC).  Pastor Preece is a vice president of the Texas District-LCMS, serving a region that includes 105 congregations in the northern part of the state.  He invites you to visit Zion Lutheran Church where God's people gather to worship, to proclaim the saving Gospel, and to serve one another and the community in Christ's holy name.
