Zion Lutheran Youth Ministry

Zion has a vibrant and active youth program.  The youth groups are split into a Junior High age group, and a high school age group.  Both groups frequently meet for fellowship and activities.

The "Youth Scoop" is a newsletter of upcoming youth activities.  It is available as a printable pdf.  If you do not have Adobe Reader installed on your computer, go to www.adobe.com/reader for the free download.

Chris Holder

Interim Youth Minister

Zion Lutheran Church-Dallas

Missionary of Youth Discipleship
New Hope Community Church LINC Urban Ministries-Dallas

Chris brings a strong background in youth ministry and passion for helping teens grow spiritually to continue Jenn’s work in ministering to the youth here at Zion.  In addition to his work at Zion, Chris is on staff with LINC (Lutheran Inner-city Network Coalition) Dallas, where he is developing a ministry to "at risk" teens at New Hope Community Church a LINC outreach in East Dallas as well as working with youth mission groups coming to New Hope throughout the year.  Chris has also been involved with the student discipleship training LINC is doing in partnership with Lutheran High School, equipping the students to be ministry leaders on campus and in the community.   Because of this partnership, Chris is very well acquainted with a majority of our youth and can’t wait to get to know the rest of our fabulous young people.

Previously, Chris has served as a Youth Minister to Lutheran churches in Carrollton, McKinney and Frisco.  Chris is certified and rostered as a DCE (Director of Christian Education) in the LCMS through Concordia University in Austin.  Chris completed his Masters of Arts Degree from Dallas Theological Seminary in May of 2005 and also has a B.A. from Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth.

Chris is joined in ministry by his awesome wife of 9 years, Heather.  Chris and Heather are providing primary care for their 11-year-old niece, Hailey, who is a 6th grader at Zion’s School.  Chris and Heather are also certified as Foster Parents with Lutheran Social Services providing transitional care for children recently taken out of their home.  After living in McKinney for six years Chris and Heather have left the “burbs” and are now residing in Dallas.  They are excited by the ministry opportunities at Zion and New Hope and look forward to working with both the youth and adults here at Zion.
