Arcanum Musicae  “An evening of unbelievable blend and musicianship” is how it was described by one member of the audience.  The 15 member German men’s vocal ensemble sang to a crowd of over 200 people, many of them German-speaking or of German heritage.  Performing works spanning many genres and time periods the Choir displayed their solid training as boys in the Dresdner Kreutzchor; indeed, most of them had been singing together since the fourth grade.  While in the boychoir in Dresden, each one had traveled extensively throughout Germany, Europe, and the United States.  Zion was pleased to host Arcanum musicae in their first American tour as a men’s choir, and the audience was not disappointed in their mastery of the art.

Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas The Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas held their second annual Concert and Silent Auction at Zion on Friday, March 7. The Chorus, consisting of three separate ensembles--Concert I, Concert II, and the newly formed Outreach Chorus, performed to an audience of over 500 people in the lively acoustic of Zion's sanctuary. The performance included, among other pieces, a Children's Opera entitled "Knights in Shining Armor" by Malcolm Williamson, a set of Robert Louis Stevenson Rhymes with music composed by Paul Bouman, and "Peace Mass" by Bob Chilcott. As always, the Chorus' clear, beautiful tone and artful musicianship, under the leadership of directors Cynthia Nott and Linda Harley, was received with great enthusiasm by those present.
The Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas was founded in 1996. The mission of the Chorus is to give children of the Dallas Metroplex the experience of musical artistry and excellence through choral singing--in a group that reflects the diversity of the metropolitan area. The Chorus holds the potential to become one of the premier children's choruses in North America.
The Chorus performs extensively throughout the Dallas area. It has been the guest of the Dallas Opera, the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Orpheus Chamber Singers, the Mesquite Civic Chorus, and Voices of Change.
