Concert Series 2001-2002

Zion's 2001-2002 Concert Series began with crowds of over 400 people in attendance for the first two performances.  We were pleased to host the Texas A&M-Commerce Chorale for the season opener, and the musicians of Zion (over 130 of them) recently participated in the annual Christmas Service of Lessons and Carols.  The next concert, on Sunday, February 10, was given by Organist Benjamin Kolodziej, C.A.G.O., Organist and Director of Worship at Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Plano.  Mr. Kolodziej played to a house of 150 people and splendidly displayed his talent on the well-regarded and versatile Schlicker-Sipe Organ.  On Friday, March 8, the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas performed their Inaugural Tour Concert at Zion, drawing an audience of over 500 people.  The excellent acoustics of the sanctuary allowed the natural beauty of the children's voices to fill the room, to the delight of everyone present.  Directors Cynthia Nott and Linda Harley led the children in selections by J.S. Bach, Michael Praetorious, G.F. Handel, Leonard Bernstein, Benjamin Britten among others, and drew from a variety of styles and world cultures.  Zion was pleased and honored to host the Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas in 2002.  On Thursday, May 9, The Children and Adult Choirs of Zion presented an evening of choral and instrumental music in celebration of the festival of the Ascension.  The theme of the evening was "Crown Him with Many Crowns."  It was a delightful evening of music to conclude this year's concert series.  Don't miss the upcoming events in the 2002-2003 Concert Series at Zion.
